Have you ever experienced writing a song or making a beat that moved somebody to tears? Ever wondered if there was a formula out there that you could use to get that effect? Well heres a crack at it im still at the process of trying it myself but i might as well take you along since im doing this for all of you anyway. My fans are my family so let me know if this helped you out.
Ive been listening to some neuroscience shit about the how the human brain can be deceptive. Most of the theories ive come up with are basically a spin off Prof. Steven Novela's lectures you might wanna google him if you wanna check him out anyways lets get to the meat of this blog
By nature we human beings create patterns in our head. We relate every single thing we see and hear to fit our image of the planet. Imagine staring up the sky look at the clouds if you try hard enough you can make up shapes of animals and people well actually most of us do this effortlesly. The reason for that is because by nature we human beings want to make sense of everything we want a sense of order to things.
You catching my drift? Or am i sounding more like a nutcase? Hang on it gets better. Alright let me try and give you a hint of what im getting at here. If people have certain patterns in their head then it only makes sense that after years of evolution weve already built certain patterns for music. Thats how we came out with the different genres. You listen to a certain melody and you can easily distinguish rock from hiphop. But even if we have this different genres we still have good music and shitty music. And I'm damn fucking sure that what people call good music is the kinda music you can easily relate to
There's a certain theory called audio paradolia (I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right) but the idea here is that when people listen to sounds something stirs up something inside them. A memory or a life event. If that was the case then it would be really nice if you can get people to feel something when they hear your music. 2 words came out my head sound effects. Subliminal sound effects. Subliminal sound effects would be sounds or words that tie up to strong emotions. Put something in their blindside imagine words or sounds you can put in the back ground while the vocalist is doing his thing during the verse. Anything unexpected subtle but strong you don't even need to make it audible because the human brain would try to fill the gaps. Thats actually where you start hitting them. When they try to start figuring out whats going on because that's how the brain works. It will try to find a way to dig some information on that sudden outburst of sound like birds chirping or kids laughing. The brain would look for a shortcut of that time when you experienced that sound. Then capitalize on that by backing it up with some nice lyrics
I'm gonna try writing a song probably next week and update this. Hope you got something out of this. Aite holler at me if you read this
